Leadership

Leadership, mentorship, and volunteerism have always been core components of my identity. Listed here are some groups and organizations I have had the pleasure of working with and learning from during my graduate studies.

  • I sit on the Hall Foundation Board of Directors, which involves participating in all Board meetings and contributing to various activities and committees. Most notably, I have coordinated the Jack Boan student essay competition for three years.

  • In this role, I fostered community among graduate students in Health Research Methodology by leading a team of student volunteers in planning academic, networking, and social events.

  • I worked with prospective students and graduate program staff to promote graduate programs in the Faculty of Health Sciences, such as meeting with Health Research Methodology applicants.

  • I mentored four graduate students during their first year to provide insights on coursework, research, and funding. We met regularly throughout the academic year and attended program and faculty events together.

  • I collaborated with student volunteers to disseminate evidence-based health education to promote graduate student wellness. For example, my team and I established, coordinated, and facilitated weekly GradChats sessions (drop-in group counselling sessions).

  • I provided initial research experiences to six undergraduate students by leading them through a research project, educating them about various methodologies, and sharing opportunities to gain practical research skills. Our manuscript was published in the STEM Fellowship Journal.
